A closer look at our award-winning backend OTT video platform
As we celebrate 24i’s Smart Video solution being named the best OTT Video Platform in the 2021 Streaming Media European Readers' Choice Awards, 24i’s Backend Product Lead, Tung Hoang, reveals why this product is going from strength to strength.
Although we didn’t get to put on our tuxedos and party shoes for this year’s awards season, 24i’s video backend and Backstage teams are still honored to have been singled out for glory by the judges and public voters in the 2021 Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards.
More than 2,000 readers cast their ballots to whittle-down the shortlists in 16 categories to a small group of finalists. A panel of expert judges at Streaming Media then made the final call. We’re delighted, but not entirely surprised, that Smart Video came out top in the OTT Video Platform category. After all, we’ve been working hard over the past 18 months to take our existing cloud-based solution and make it an even better fit for our OTT customers’ needs.
An OTT video platform that simplifies end-to-end streaming operations
Back in the Spring, my colleague Ramon Duivenvoorden wrote about the integration of Smart Video functionality into Backstage, our real-time content and application management interface. This enhancement has meant customers like BroadwayHD and Flow Sports can now control their video assets in the same place that they configure their front-end user experience. Forthcoming SVOD and TVOD service Cinessance will also benefit from this fast-track approach to managing their content preparation and update workflows alongside tasks like updating their branding, logo and content categories.
We also keep a close focus on the stability and performance of our video platform to ensure we deliver the speed demanded by clients like Mediahuis. The European Publishing group uses our Smart Video backend to transcode and transfer dozens of videos each day, responsible for around 50 million video views per month.
